Our Mission: Making Acupuncture Accessible
The mission of Worker Bee Community Acupuncture is to make acupuncture accessible to as many members of the Pike County (and surrounding) Community as possible. We provide acupuncture treatments in a warm and welcoming community setting at a cost that you help determine. We use a sliding scale of $15 - $30 per treatment. You decide what you can afford. We want you to be able to come for as many treatments as you need so you can feel well!

We identify ourselves as part of a movement to use acupuncture to create social change in our health care system. Clinics following this business model, referred to as Community Supported Acupuncture (CSA), are located across our country and are thriving while providing quality acupuncture treatments. We believe that accessible and affordable acupuncture can empower individuals and change lives. We believe that it can be part of the solution to the present issues in our traditional health care system.

Interested?? Here are a few things we want you to know about our clinic:

We treat in a community setting:

In our clinic, patients are treated in an open room while resting in a comfortable zero gravity chair. There may be 3 or 4 individuals enjoying a treatment the same time you are. This community setting is typically practiced in Asia. In comparison, acupuncture treatments in the West are traditionally received on a table in a private room.

Community settings come with many benefits:

CSA has many benefits. It is easy for friends and family members to come for treatment together; many patients find it comforting; a collective energy is shared which actually has the potential to make individual treatments more powerful AND it makes acupuncture available at more affordable prices!

Another benefit of CSA is that patients get to determine how long their treatments are. In some styles of acupuncture, needles are removed after only a few minutes or after a half hour at most. In our clinic, our patients are allowed to keep their needles in for approximately one hour if they feel it is needed. The "right" amount of time will vary from patient to patient. Most people learn after a few treatments when they feel "done."

More time alone with the acupuncturist doesn't equal "better" treatment, frequent treatments equal "better" treatment:

Most US acupuncturists only see one or two patients per hour and spend a lot of time talking with each patient, going over medical records and asking many questions. We do not. You will be asked to fill out a detailed health history questionnaire and will be asked a few questions prior to each treatment by our acupuncturist, Blake. He will use other tools, such as pulse diagnosis, before your treatment to gather additional information about your health as well as reviewing your health history on his own. Blake will obtain plenty of information about each patient over time in order to provide tailored treatments.

Acupuncture is a PROCESS. It is very rare for any acupuncturist to resolve an issue with one treatment. Therefore, acupuncture becomes most effective when patients can come for multiple treatments, close together in time (such as several per week). A key piece in having frequent treatments is the affordability of them. Community acupuncture makes this a reality for many people. In a community setting, individuals could come to 3-4 treatments versus 1 private treatment for the same cost.

Thank you so much for your interest in our clinic. Check out our other pages to learn more about community style acupuncture and acupuncture in general. Please email or call us with questions or concerns. We look forward to speaking with you!
